Concert: "A Tribute to the Great Soul Singers" with Vocalist Gordon Michaels

Concert: "A Tribute to the Great Soul Singers" with Vocalist Gordon Michaels In-Person

The MPL is offering the first concert in our Fall series on Saturday, 9/13/25, starting at 2 PM in the Keys Community Room.  Vocalist Gordon Michaels is a Boston-area performer who will entertain us with a program called: “A Tribute to the Great Soul Singers” and he will be accompanied by his talented pianist, Bill Duffy.

Mr. Michael’s voice has been described as “a deeply personal expression of his soul.“  Originally from Bronx, NY, he sang gospel as a young person, was recognized as an exceptional talent, and attended NYC’s Music & Arts High School.  Then he studied at the Boston Conservatory of Music, getting his degree in Musical Theatre.  His vocal ability allows him to switch genres easily between Broadway show tunes, jazz, blues, pop, gospel and even country.  A consummate entertainer, Gordon knows how to engage any audience and leave them wanting more!   This entertainer has performed with Patti Labelle, Jennifer Holiday, James Taylor, Rod Stewart, Cissy Houston, Natalie Cole and many more internationally known artists.  He was also a vocalist at the Vatican for Pope John Paul II’s televised Christmas Eve Musical Extravaganza.

Pianist Bill Duffy spent 10 years in the San Franscisco Bay area as a freelance pianist, playing jazz gigs and hotel piano.  Since moving to Boston in 1996, he has continued his career, including 7 years as house pianist at the Four Seasons, and 4 years playing in bands on the Odyssey cruises. He has also developed a reputation as a warm and supportive accompanist and teaches piano at the John Payne Music Center in Brookline, MA.  This event will feature the wonderful music of lots of beloved soul and R&B singers, and we are sure you will be inspired to get up and dance!   Please join host Jean Hlady for a fun Fall concert!   For more information, Email reference@milton.ocln.org or call the Reference Dept. at (617) 898-4964.  We hope to see you there!

This event is kindly sponsored by both the Friends of the MPL and the MPL Foundation.
