Wotiz Gallery: Exhibit with Painter Joyce Caggiano and Photographer Owen Hartford called: "From the Beginning...A Journey in the Visual Arts" In-Person
Long-time residents of Milton painter Joyce Caggiano and photographer Owen Hartford will show a collection of their artwork in our Wotiz Gallery from January 2nd through the 31st. This exhibit is called "From the Beginning...A Journey in Visual Arts." Experience the relationship between photography and other forms of visual art. On display are paintings that are mostlky derived from photos. This collection demonstrates that photography stands as its own work and at the same time as an inspiration for alternative expressions of the same scene created in other media. Artists often resist beginning an artwork with someone else's photo. Some believe that this is "copying" rather than creating original art.
This display is a collection of photos and completed paintings and drawings derived from photographed images. It is the process of artist, Joyce Caggiano, moving from an image, in most cases a photographic image, to a completed art piece. No all efforts are successful, never the less, all efforts are valued. Working in collaboration with Owen Hartford, an experienced master of photography, this show demonstrates the intricate relationship between photography and painting. A section of this exhibit called "Grief" was completed by Caggiano after the death of her husband of 30 years in 2017.
Please stop by and enjoy some art this month in our Gallery!
